POSITION DESCRIPTION

As defined by its Board of Trustees, the mission of the Lane Public Library (LPL) and its staff members is "to provide materials, services and technology aimed at satisfying the curiosity, intellect and imagination of our patrons throughout our communities, on our website and by engaging in strategic partnerships."

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides consistently excellent, responsive customer service to library staff and patrons

• Operates, monitors, and maintains essential library servers, databases, and network infrastructure to ensure system health and reliability

• Delivers high-quality technical support, troubleshooting, and training to library staff for hardware, software, and system issues

• Deploys, configures, and troubleshoots staff and public-facing computer workstations, printers, and peripheral equipment

• Executes routine system backups, recovery procedures, and software patching protocols proactive to prevent downtime

• Administers and updates the library's public-facing website and internal website, ensuring accessibility and properly routing digital inquiries

• Creates and maintains clear, accessible end-user guides, technical documentation, and system procedures

• Collects, analyzes, and maintains accurate system usage statistics, network logs, and administrative reports for leadership

• Maintains active awareness of library announcements, system updates, and internal communications

• Participates on system-wide planning teams and cross-functional committees

• Exercises sound troubleshooting judgment while prioritizing support requests efficiently

• Maintains professionalism and strictly adheres to library policies, safety procedures, and the staff code of conduct

REQUIRED

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

:

• Demonstrates technical proficiency with Windows and/or Linux server environments and fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)

• Organizes, analyzes, and prioritizes technical tasks and help desk requests skillfully and efficiently

• Communicates complex technical issues clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders and staff members

• Works independently with appropriate direction and exercises sound troubleshooting judgment

• Upholds strict professional ethics and maintains the confidentiality of library patron and staff data

REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, OR an equivalent combination of education and professional technical certifications

• Demonstrated experience supporting IT infrastructure, hardware, client operating systems, and network services in a professional environment

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Works flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Assists other agencies/departments, as needed
• Must pass criminal background check

SALARY:

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Annual salary: $50,000 and up depending on experience and background. Excellent benefits including: health, life, vision and dental insurance and paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.
