Paid Field Technician Intern
The IT Field Technician Intern must have previous years' experience working on the student-run support desk. The IT Field Technician Intern is expected to be a student leader across campus who both represents the student body well and serves as a role model to other students.
The IT Field Tech intern works as a member of the Butler Tech IT department. The student will provide front line tier 1 and 2 support for Butler Tech staff in the Central Office including troubleshooting hardware and software, answering technical questions and providing user advice, and researching solutions to problems. The student will also be responsible for evaluating the state and future of the Butler Tech mobile app.
Students will be provided with Butler Tech shirts and a set of computer tools which they will be allowed to keep upon completion of their internship. Interns will work between 8 and 20 hours a week. A schedule will be established at the start of the internship between the student, the counseling office, and IT staff. Internships run from September to April.
Qualifications:
- Current Fairfield Township Campus student in one of the following programs: IT, Engineering, Digital/Emerging Media, or Business;
- Previous Support Desk Intern experience;
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking relevant to the position;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team;
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude;
- Ability to provide customer service, document progress, organize, prioritize, problem-solve, think critically, and exercise professional judgement;
- Satisfactory attendance and discipline record.
