Description
Weekend Shift: Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 5 am to 5 pm.
Friday Afternoon (2-4PM):
Weekend Hand-off with Operations Managers and Plant Manager
To perform the Production Supervisor job successfully, an individual must demonstrate competencies in press operations and troubleshooting as well as understand upstream & downstream operations. Able to help troubleshoot equipment and provide feedback to the Department Supervisor/Manager and maintenance personnel. Must take initiative, be resourceful, and be willing to accept responsibility and accountability.
Responsibilities- Responsible for daily production from printing to packaging.
- Lead with Safety, by identifying hazards and acting to always mitigate injury risk and participating in Speak-up Program.
- Empower operational staff to present ideas and create improvements and solutions.
- Assess and identify operational improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all production processes.
- Complete Leader Standard Work (LSW) daily.
- Audit and document the implementation of standardized work and other process improvements.
- Work cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and foster a Lean Culture.
- Develop an understanding of lean manufacturing techniques to implement process improvements and optimal use of manufacturing resources.
- Review Key Performance Indicators (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to ensure area is on track to meet overall departmental objectives; require metrics be completed with notes explaining downtime and reasons if throughput goals are not achieved.
- Leverage 5S principles to develop and maintain operational standards (A place for everything and everything in its place).
- Facilitate and lead Ripple / Gemba Walks on weekends. Identify obstacles and assignments for completion.
- Assist in investigating root cause analysis & corrective actions for each department as needed.
- Understand and support all policies, procedures, instructions, rules, and regulations associated with Brook & Whittle and our facility.
- Work directly with all operators to ensure jobs are ran to customer’s critical specifications and to quality requirements.
- Support Quality Techs on shift and able to cover for their signoffs and efforts as needed. Train the Lead(s) to do the same.
- Consult with Operations Manager, Plant Manager and/or Quality Assurance of any quality related defects.
- Represent operations during Quality Meetings or Project Review Meetings.
- Work with Quality department and other Managers to ensure proper employee training is provided.
- Report machine & equipment breakdown to manager & maintenance personnel.
- Must cover for other Supervisors/Managers while on vacation or time-off as requested.
- Consult with department manager and Quality Assurance of any quality related defects.
- Responsible for reporting production results, obstacles and hand-off information to cross-functional team through daily end-of-shift report before leaving for the day.
- Communicate personnel issues to HR and/or Manager as needed.
- Ensure all elements needed for upcoming jobs are present and accounted for to minimize downtime.
- Minimize setup times through improved processes and staff utilization. Increase run speeds. Work closely with and support staff through both initiatives.
- Work in cross-functional teams to make sure processes are robust enough to meet customer requirements.
- Must be a team player and be able to multi-task.
- Make decisions systematically while minimizing downtime on all presses.
- Keep all production equipment running through all breaks/lunch.
- Follow daily schedule to meet and exceed goals and requirements while maintaining OTS detailed in Open Orders Report.
- Communicate Personnel issues to Operations Manager.
- Ensures all elements needed for upcoming jobs are present and accounted for to minimize downtime.
- Minimize setup times through improved processes and staff utilization. Increase run speeds. Work closely with and support staff through both initiatives.
