3rd Shift Maintenance Technician

Location:

Hamilton, OH, US – Onsite

The Maintenance Technician will engage in performing various maintenance activities at OPW/Knappco. Will respond to maintenance requests after being submitted through an automated system. The Maintenance Technician will also complete projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment at the proper intervals.
  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plan for and take corrective action.
  • Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, change over equipment to new sizes or perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Test equipment to check operation.
  • Clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework; try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  • Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms.
  • Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor and take appropriate action.
  • Examine defects and analyze spoilage causes, and where possible, take corrective action.
  • Analyze and record cause of production delays on daily production report.
Additional Duties
  • Repair and adjust small machines, e.g., drill presses, punch presses, grinding and buffing heads, riveters, bench power and hand tools; involve replacement of bearings, spindles, electrical switches, etc.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, specifications and instruction manuals.
  • Use scale, square, levels, miscellaneous power bench tools, wrenches, carpentry tools, etc.; will oil and grease equipment in absence of an oiler and greaser.
  • Perform product examination and rework when line is down due to causes beyond mechanic's control.
Required

Education and/or Experience
  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be knowledgeable in skilled trades.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have well‑rounded knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used within the Civacon manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess basic reading, writing, and computation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers.
  • Ability to effectively problem‑solve.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
Language Skills

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and group situations to team members, co‑workers, and outside vendors.

Mathematical Skills

Must have basic computation skills.

Physical and Visual Activities

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity‑far, acuity‑near, depth perception and field of vision. See all colors.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, you may be standing, or sitting for long periods of time. You may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions

You will spend time in an office environment as well as out on the shop floor. You may be exposed to loud operating machinery, hot and cold temperatures, chemicals and vapors.
