CAD/CAM Programmer / CNC Machinist
Location:
Hamilton, OH Pay: $27–$33/ hr Job Type: Direct Hire
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer / CNC Machinist to join a specialized mold and tooling shop in Hamilton, OH. This is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for taking projects from initial mold design through CNC programming, machine setup, and machining of the finished part. This is not a high-volume production environment. Each mold is one-of-a-kind and designed for a specific application, giving you the opportunity to work on unique projects and use your problem-solving and machining skills every day.
- Create and modify mold and tooling designs using Mastercam CAD/CAM.
- Program CNC machines using Mastercam X25 and previous versions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Set up and operate 3-axis CNC vertical machining centers.
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies.
- Load programs and make necessary adjustments at the machine.
- Set up work holding and properly locate/secure materials.
- Run first parts and inspect dimensions for accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
- Make program or setup adjustments as needed to produce quality parts.
- Work with aluminum approximately 99% of the time.
- Machine polyboard for fixtures and tooling.
- Move between different CNC machines as projects require.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
CNC Equipment The shop operates:
- 3 HURCO CNC machines
- 4 FADAL CNC machines
- 3 Milltronics VMC machines
- All machines are 3-axis
- Previous experience with CAD/CAM programming and CNC machining.
- Experience with Mastercam strongly preferred.
- Ability to design, program, set up, and run CNC equipment.
- Strong understanding of 3-axis milling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and work holding.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, quality parts.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues independently.
- Experience working with aluminum is highly preferred.
- Must be comfortable working in a job-shop/tooling environment rather than repetitive production.
- One-of-a-kind molds and tooling — no repetitive production runs.
- Work on projects from design all the way through machining.
- Primarily machine aluminum and polyboard.
