About the PositionThe Laboratory Quality Control Technician will be responsible for testing incoming raw materials, intermediate products, and finished product samples. The role focuses on ensuring product conformance to specifications and maintaining accurate documentation.
Primary Accountabilities- Perform daily testing of all raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in accordance with established SOPs.
- Conduct sensory, refractive index, Brix, pH, turbidity, HPLC/GC, particle size, colorimetry, viscosity, density, water activity, manual titration, and other tests as assigned.
- Analyze data and produce detailed reports that reference relevant specifications.
- Take microbial samples, maintain a sterile/clean environment, and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly during sampling.
- Create COAs, prepare micro samples, calibrate laboratory equipment, and maintain production and quality records to ensure compliance.
- File raw material and finished product records and exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor while maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment.
- Bachelor of Science in a related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science/Technology, or Business.
- At least two years of quality control laboratory experience with a hands‑on, comprehensive approach.
- Previous flavor industry experience is desired.
- High school diploma or general education degree with 2 to 5 years of inspection and/or manufacturing experience.
- Experience with HACCP, FSP, ISO 22000, SQF, BRC, or equivalent Global Food Safety Initiative criteria.
- Hands‑on experience with QC instruments such as pH meters, refractometers, densitometers, colorimeters, GC, water activity meters, and turbidimeters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and independent work skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
- Ability to discern sensory differences between flavors and flavor chemicals.
Starting hourly rate $20.00, with potential increases based on experience. 1st shift, Monday through Friday. Position will remain open until filled.
