Responsible for installing and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery and equipment; coordinating maintenance and repair of electrical power, lighting, and transportation equipment.
Responsibilities- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, including conveyors, robots, programmable controllers, and other automation devices.
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and cables between machines.
- Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery, discusses malfunctions with maintenance workers to diagnose problems.
- Replaces faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sending devices.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
- Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
- Programmed automated machinery by operating programmable controllers and verifying repairs.
- Analyzes and resolves electrical problems or assists workers in solving electrical problems.
- Plans layout or wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
- Performs related duties as required.
Education and/or
Experience:
Technical school degree or equivalent; or 4–10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to work with probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning
Skills:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess a valid Master Electrician License.
Physical RequirementsUse hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear regularly. Sit and reach with hands and arms frequently. Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally. Maintain close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus as required.
