Job Summary

The Admissions & Recruitment Department at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) seeks an International Services Specialist to coordinate immigration and related services for international students, exchange visitors, and employment-based visa holders and perform additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate immigration and related services for international students, exchange visitors, and employment-based visa holders.
  • Deliver services related to international students and scholars to facilitate compliance with federal immigration regulations and ensure student success.
  • Evaluate, advise, and prepare cases on issues related to maintenance and restoration of good immigration status for students.
  • Interpret federal regulations and exercise judgment in deciding appropriate courses of action for reinstatement, change of status, terminations, extensions of stay, and other adjudication cases.
  • Review and utilize databases to ensure accuracy of data for tracking and reporting of international students and scholars.
  • Ensure compliance with data collection and maintenance requirements of the Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Purdue Northwest.
  • Monitor international health insurance compliance.
  • Serve and promote advocacy for the international student and scholar population both on and off campus.
  • Encourage cultural understanding to assist in the adjustment of international students, their academic departments, and other campus entities.
  • Assist faculty and staff in developing programs, policies, and procedures impacting international students in many areas.
  • Support international admissions with data entry, application management, credential evaluations, etc., as needed and within ISS responsibilities.
  • Provide a flexible work schedule while maintaining a strong on-campus presence.
