GENERAL

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistive (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). provides assessment, consultation, and implementation of AT and AAC tools and strategies for students ages 3–22 to support educational and communication needs. Responsibilities include coaching educational teams, developing and delivering professional development, managing technology resources, and shaping environments that promote access and participation across the continuum of services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS POSITION:

• Conduct team-based AT evaluations and use data-driven feature matching to recommend communication devices and tools
• Assist school teams in selecting and organizing AT tools across the low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech continuum, including vocabulary/communication systems and instructional software that supports language development
• Design and deliver training and professional development for staff, students, and families
• Coach teams on communication strategies and document AT within the IEP
• Serve as a transdisciplinary team member with SLPs, OTs, PTs, teachers, parents, and private providers
• Support IEP teams with AT documentation at case conferences
• Apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to classroom environments
• Identify AT resources and consult with families on funding options like grants and insurance
• Manage the district's AT device inventory (trials, inventory, training, return/exit procedures)
• Serve as security manager for district AT/AAC software accounts and coordinate with representatives
• Collect and review AT outcome data and improve district AT procedures, forms, and guidelines
• Act as the primary district contact for AT
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education

Specific Skills and Knowledge for this position:

• Proficient in Power School Special Programs (PSSP), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
• Strong knowledge of special education laws and procedures, including writing compliant IEPs, Article 7, and IDEA
• Deep understanding of AT/AAC tool categories, feature matching, and UDL
• Advanced collaboration, coaching, and oral/written communication skills

Qualifications and

Education Requirements:

Must meet one of the following:

• Special Education Focus:
  Bachelor''s/Master''s in Education with valid Indiana Teaching License and certification in Mild Intervention and/or an Intense disability area (MI, MO, ED, SLD)
• SLP Focus:
  Master''s in Speech-Language Pathology with IDOE SLP license, IPLA registration, and CCC or ASHA CFY eligibility
• SLPA Focus:
  Associate''s from an SLPA program or Bachelor''s in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders, plus Indiana licensure and IPLA registration
• Minimum three (3) years of special education experience
• Teacher’s Contract
