Job Description
As a member of the Engineering team, the Process Controls Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting controls, automation, and implementation of projects from prototype to production phase.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and streamline electrical controls systems, general circuitry, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and machinery in the plant using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electric, HMI software/design, and E‑Plan.
- Program, install, and provide technical troubleshooting support for PLC ladder‑logic based hardware and software applications throughout the plant.
- Provide controls and systems engineering support for emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during peak and off‑peak runs.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional groups, plant engineers, and maintenance supervisors to complete projects on time and within schedule.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, machinery assembly drawings, create component hardware BOMs, and determine additional system/hardware components for electrical control system design and circuitry diagrams for maintenance and service.
- Diagnose process and machinery problems using root cause analysis techniques, replace or repair parts, and test and adjust as required.
- Assist with compliance of plant safety regulations such as Arc Flash Electrical Safety (NFPA‑70E), LOTO, Energized Work Permits, and Safe Cell Entry.
- Experience and working knowledge of CNC/FANUC machines.
- 3–5+ years of electrical controls/system engineering industry experience.
- Strong ladder logic skills, preferably Allen‑Bradley Systems; PLC5, SLC, and Control Logix 5000‑5580.
- Strong HMI design skills.
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and basic networking.
- Working knowledge of plant power distribution equipment and controls.
- Experience with robot teach points and programming code.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering or related field.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, JIT.
