Job Title:
Student - Community Outreach Assistant

The Mental Health & Community Outreach Assistant will support the operations and impact of StRides Against Suicide & Overdose, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and resources for individuals seeking mental health and substance use treatment and works to increase community awareness and access to mental health support services. Core responsibilities include:
- Supporting event coordination (walks, rides, mental health awareness booths) with guidance from staff
- Assisting with community outreach communications, including social media, newsletters, and email updates to promote mental health resources and events
- Creating and distributing flyers and outreach materials using tools like Canva
- Helping maintain volunteer and community contact records
- Supporting outreach to community partners and local organizations in coordination with staff
- Performing administrative tasks, including data entry, scheduling, and communication support
- Assisting with tracking scholarship program participation and supporting related communications

Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour
Start Date:
August 18th
End Date:
May 9th
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Purdue University Northwest and eligible for Federal Work-Study
- Academic focus or interest in marketing, communications, psychology, mental health, nonprofit work, business, social work, or related fields
- Ability to work remotely and independently while staying accountable
- Previous experience in event planning, peer mentoring, outreach, or nonprofit support is a plus
- Strong interest in contributing to mental health awareness and community-building initiatives
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Passion for mental health advocacy, community outreach, and service
- Comfortable with Canva, Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail), and/or social media platforms
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with guidance and support from staff
- Self-motivated individual who takes initiative while working within a supportive team environment
