Electrical Maintenance Technician

Location:

Hammond, IN Available Shifts1st

Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM2nd

Shift: Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Overtime is available based on production needs.

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a highly skilled maintenance team supporting a fast-paced industrial manufacturing facility. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing electrical problems, troubleshooting production equipment, and playing a key role in keeping manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently.

This is a heavily electrical-focused maintenance position, with approximately 75–80% of the work involving electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance, while the remaining time is spent assisting with mechanical maintenance and equipment repairs.

Primary Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial production equipment to minimize downtime.

Perform electrical maintenance on 120V, 240V, and 480V electrical systems.

Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motors, motor starters, motor controls, overloads, relays, contractors, transformers, disconnects, and electrical control panels.

Diagnose and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and related motor control systems.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.

Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment by verifying inputs, outputs, sensors, and electrical components (PLC programming experience is not required).Install, replace, and repair electrical components including sensors, switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, wiring, and electrical devices.

Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.

Assist with root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions to improve equipment performance.

Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and complete work orders.

Work closely with production and fellow maintenance technicians to quickly resolve equipment issues and maintain plant productivity.

Mechanical Responsibilities Although this is an electrical-first position, technicians will also assist with mechanical repairs as needed, including:

Bearings Belts Chains Rollers Gearboxes Pumps Conveyors Basic  hydraulic and pneumatic components

Equipment adjustments and alignments

Equipment You'll Support Technicians will maintain a wide variety of industrial manufacturing equipment, including:

Conveyors Mixers Pumps Industrial  motors

Gearboxes

Electrical control panelsPLC-controlled production equipment

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Sensors and photo eyes Motor starters

Relays Cont actors Safety  circuits

Electrical distribution equipment

Work Environment This position is located within a chemical manufacturing facility where safety is a top priority. Employees are provided with all required personal protective equipment and are expected to follow all plant safety procedures.

The role requires the use of:

Safety glasses

Steel-toe boots

Gloves

Hearing protection

Respirator (required while working in designated production areas)
While the facility manufactures lead-based specialty products, strict safety procedures, engineering controls, and PPE requirements are in place to provide a safe working environment.
