Electrical Maintenance Specialist, Chemical Manufacturing

Location:

Hammond, INA day in the role

You start your shift by suiting up with PPE—safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection. When you step into designated production areas, you add a respirator. A production line calls in a fault: you open the control panel, trace a 480V circuit, verify VFD behavior, and check PLC inputs and outputs (no programming required). You spot a misaligned proximity sensor, replace it, and bring the equipment back online.

Later, you knock out preventive maintenance on conveyors, mixers, pumps, and electrical distribution gear—documenting work orders and collaborating with operators and fellow techs to keep the plant humming. If a belt, bearing, or chain needs attention, you pitch in on the mechanical side, align components, and keep downtime to a minimum.
