The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as Probation and Parole Officer-Juvenile. This role plays a critical part in promoting public safety, reducing recidivism, and supporting the successful rehabilitation of justice-involved youth through professional supervision, guidance, and intervention strategies.

This position is responsible for collaborating closely with judges, law enforcement agencies, and community-based organizations to provide services and supervision for juveniles.

Minimum qualifications include three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; or three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); or six years of full-time experience in any field; or a bachelor's degree. Experience substitution is available. Necessary special requirements include a current Louisiana driver's license and willingness and ability to complete the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.

Job duties include coordinating youth services across a multi-parish region for adjudicated and at-risk youth, completing risk and SAVRY assessments, maintaining contact with youth and families, serving as secondary case manager for youth in secure care, preparing required documentation, coordinating evaluations and placements, preparing FAST forms to determine Medicaid/IV-E eligibility and parental cost-of-care contributions, participating in court and staffing processes, monitoring programs for compliance, and providing additional support including mentoring, transporting youth, responding to emergencies, coordinating Interstate Compact cases, and collaborating with social-service agencies.

Position-specific details include work location at the Hammond Regional Office in Hammond, Louisiana, appointment type of full-time, probational, and career progression as Probation and Parole Officer 1, 2, or 3 (Juvenile), depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. Compensation includes a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level.
