Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department invites applications for the position of Police Officer 1/2. This is a training series position that will allow applicants to be hired as a Police Officer 1 or Police Officer 2 based on qualifications.
Police Officer 1:
No experience required.  Police Officer 2:
One year of experience in law enforcement work.

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course.
Test Requirements  Applicants must have a current Civil Service test score for 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement in order to be considered for this vacancy unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy. Applicants without current test scores can apply to take the test at https://jobs.civil service.louisiana.gov MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One year of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:  Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

NOTE:

All classified jobs in State service with police officer and wildlife enforcement titles qualify as law enforcement.
Jobs outside State service that will qualify as law enforcement are those performed while commissioned with the power of arrest.
Military police in the armed services are law enforcement; security/guard duty is NOT qualifying.
