Position DescriptionELOS Environmental, LLC (ELOS), an Aventia Company, seeks a motivated environmental geologist to support field efforts and report preparation, specifically as it pertains to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II Subsurface Investigations in accordance with Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s Risk Evaluation Corrective Action Program (RECAP), as well as soil and groundwater data processing and modeling, basic file organization, and related tasks.
The successful applicant will collect and interpret field data, prepare the appropriate reports, and report back to project management with updates. The applicant must be organized, have experience installing soil borings and monitoring wells, logging wells, sampling, and performing slug tests, and be capable of performing physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions. The applicant should have experience preparing resource reports and will be required to travel locally.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Earth Sciences, Engineering, Geology or Geophysics.
- Perform Phase I Environmental Site Investigations.
- Conduct Phase II Site Investigations in accordance with RECAP and assist/prepare RECAP reports.
- Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples and other data.
- Gather and process basic data, scientific documents, and other information collected by others for use in the preparation of scientific reports.
- Compile and organize project document files.
- Apply knowledge of geology/earth sciences to explain field observations.
- Perform technical tasks as required in support of organizational objectives.
- Communicate with regulatory personnel to transmit and receive important project correspondence.
- Exercise compliance with company and other policies and procedures.
- Prepare basic data and scientific documents.
- LDEQ RECAP (Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program) experience (Preferred).
- Successfully complete RECAP MO-1 and MO-2 evaluations.
- 5+ Years of Experience in Geology/Earth Sciences or related field (Phase I and II ESAs).
- Professional Geologist Registration.
- Experience with Phase II investigations.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to take detailed organized notes.
