Probation and Parole Officer-Juvenile
The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as Probation and Parole Officer-Juvenile. This role plays a critical part in promoting public safety, reducing recidivism, and supporting the successful rehabilitation of justice-involved youth through professional supervision, guidance, and intervention strategies.
This position is responsible for collaborating closely with judges, law enforcement agencies, and community-based organizations to provide services and supervision for juveniles.

Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. This position may require the incumbent to handle and carry firearms. Willingness and ability to complete the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate services, programs, and community resources for adjudicated and at-risk youth across a multi-parish region.
- Conduct risk and needs assessments, including SAVRY, to develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans.
- Maintain regular contact with youth, families, providers, and residential programs to monitor progress, ensure compliance, and adjust services as needed.
- Serve as a secondary case manager for youth in secure care to ensure continuity of services and successful transitions.
- Prepare and submit Individual Service Plans, social histories, investigations, court reports, placement packets, referral documents, and other required case documentation.
- Complete FAST forms to determine Medicaid/IV-E eligibility and parental cost-of-care contributions.
- Participate in case staffings, court reviews, and legal proceedings, including providing testimony on youth progress and placement recommendations.
- Maintain accurate case records, narrative entries, and data within the agency's automated case management system.
- Coordinate Interstate Compact cases, collaborate with courts and community partners, transport youth as needed, and respond to emergency situations.
- At the PPO 3 level, mentor PPO 1 and PPO 2 staff, assist supervisors with case assignments, and serve as a lead worker.
