An established CPA and advisory firm is looking for an experienced Tax Supervisor to join its growing tax practice. This is an opportunity to take on meaningful client responsibility, work directly with business owners and individuals, and have regular interaction with firm leadership.
The firm serves closely held businesses, entrepreneurs, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals throughout South and Central New Jersey.
What you'll do:- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, S corporations, partnerships, trusts, and other entities.
- Manage a portfolio of clients and serve as a primary point of contact.
- Provide tax planning, consulting, and research on federal and state tax matters.
- Identify tax-saving and planning opportunities for clients.
- Review financial statements, accounting records, and tax work papers.
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist with audits and other tax matters.
- Review tax work and provide guidance to other tax professionals.
- Help improve tax processes, workflow, and technology.
- Work with firm leadership on client service and practice development.
- 5+ years of recent public accounting experience with a strong tax focus.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred.
- Strong experience with individual, corporate, partnership, and S corporation tax returns.
- Experience with tax planning and consulting for privately held businesses and/or high-net-worth individuals.
- Experience reviewing tax work and mentoring staff.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and client relationship skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting software.
- Ultra Tax and Quick Books experience is a plus.
