Position SummaryThe Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in income tax compliance, tax accounting, tax planning, tax research, and related tax matters. The successful candidate should bring strong tax knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to self-review work before submitting deliverables. This individual may also assist in preparing technical memorandums that document tax issues in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner, as well as support external and internal auditor requests.
Essential Functions:- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of federal income tax returns, state income/franchise tax returns, and other related filings.
- Prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and annual extensions.
- Prepare provision to return adjustments.
- Assist with federal and state income tax audits.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
- Reconcile tax balance sheet accounts and prepare related book journal entries.
- Research and document tax issues, including federal, state, income, sales, and miscellaneous tax matters, and monitor relevant changes in tax law.
- Maintain tax work papers, depreciation calculations, tax basis balance sheets, and uncertain tax position documentation.
- Provide tax related data to other departments where required.
- Tax planning, tax process improvements and other duties as assigned.
- Strong analytical, accounting and tax research skills.
- Strong experience working at a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department, primarily focused on income tax.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Tax Software experience:
Corptax, One Source Provision, Bloomberg Tax Depreciation, or similar software.
Skills:
- Tax Research experience: RIA Checkpoint or CCH
- Federal and State E-filing experience
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in tax, accounting, or a related field; or
- Master’s degree with relevant experience in tax, accounting, or a related field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
