We are seeking a motivated and experienced Sr. Paving Laborer/Operator to join our dynamic paving division. This vital role combines hands-on labor with skilled operation of heavy asphalt paving equipment, contributing directly to the successful completion of large-scale paving projects. As a key player on our crew, you will help deliver high-quality surfaces for commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure projects. This position will support day and night shift crews.
Your expertise will drive efficiency, safety, and precision on every job site, ensuring we meet project goals with excellence.
ESSENTIAL
JOB DUTIES:
Support other operators, senior laborers, and the on-site crew foreman in asphalt paving
Shovel, rake, and grade materials such as asphalt and stone
Utilize saws, torches and cutting devices
Operate tampers, rollers, or other compaction devices
Operate heavy equipment such as skid loaders, asphalt rollers, small milling machines, and skid loader attachments to prepare and lay asphalt efficiently and safely
Perform site preparation tasks to set the foundation for paving operations
Conduct routine inspections of machinery and tools to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:1-2 years of experience working on an asphalt crew with a strong knowledge of paving operations.
Previous heavy equipment operation experience highly preferred

COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment, specifically machines used for preparation and paving of surfaces
Strong knowledge of asphalt paving operations
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
Construction site experience with a focus on commercial and highway paving projects
Ability to work efficiently in team environments while adhering to safety protocols and project timelines
Support traffic control operations
WORKING CONDITION AND
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform essential duties.
This position may require working more than 40 hours per week as business needs dictate.
The role may require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, based on operational demands.
Work hours may exceed 40 hours per week during peak periods or to meet project deadlines.
Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 25-50 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete
