Sr Laborer-Excavating

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist an excavating crew with grading a site to specifications. This position typically completes tasks of higher scope or complexity when compared to the Laborer. Additionally, this position functions with more autonomy and may act in a lead other laborers in the completion of tasks. The Senior Excavating Laborer works closely with equipment operators, foremen, and crew members to maintain productivity and quality on the job site.

ESSENTIONAL

JOB DUTIES:

Lead, advise or coordinate activities of other crew members

Install, set up and calibrate lasers and other elevation equipment

Interpret cut sheets and apply grades to stakes

Operate equipment such as Loader or Roller on a limited basis

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:1 to 2 years’ excavating experience or similar experience on a crew

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the Senior Laborer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

The ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction

Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds individually, or 75 to 100 pounds with assistance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work on site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
