The Pipe Layer is responsible for installing, replacing, and repairing underground utilities—including water, sanitary sewer, and storm water systems—in compliance with project specifications and applicable safety regulations. This role requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure proper pipe alignment, grading, and sealing. All work must be performed following company policies and OSHA safety standards.

Job Duties:
Install, align, and connect pipes using hand and power tools, adhesives, and sealing materials.
Interpret blueprints and construction documents to determine pipe layout.
Set up, calibrate, and operate lasers and leveling equipment for accurate trench grading and and alignment.
Excavate and prepare trenches while ensuring compliance with OSHA trench safety guidelines (e.g., proper shoring or trench boxes for depths over 5 feet).Backfill and compact soil around installed pipes using hand tampers, rollers, or compactors.
Cut and fit pipe sections to required lengths and angles using saws, torches, or cutting tools.
Lead or coordinate with crew members on pipe installation tasks, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Handle and position heavy pipe segments using approved rigging methods.
Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent struck-by and caught-between hazards.
Follow all site safety rules, including proper use of PPE (hard hats, gloves, steel-toed boots, hearing and eye protection, high-visibility clothing).Ensure compliance with confined space entry protocols where applicable.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Outdoor job sites in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).Exposure to dirt, mud, water, dust, grease, and potentially hazardous materials (e.g., adhesives, fuels).Regular proximity to heavy machinery, mobile equipment, and excavation operations.
Work may involve use of ladders, scaffold towers, and man-lifts per OSHA safety guidelines.

Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) years of experience in utility installation or pipe laying.
Knowledge of construction safety practices, with a working understanding of OSHA regulations (e.g., 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P for excavations).Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes.
Familiar with various pipe materials (PVC, ductile iron, concrete, HDPE) and appropriate installation techniques.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
Stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods throughout an 8–10-hour workday.
Lift, carry, and move materials weighing 50–90 lbs. frequently; up to 150 lbs. with assistance.
Frequent climbing on ladders, equipment, scaffolding, and into trenches up to 15 feet deep.
Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet and in confined spaces following OSHA entry procedures.
Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and compacting equipment.
Tolerance for repetitive movements including bending, reaching, lifting, and kneeling.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and remain alert in noisy, high-traffic environments.
