Position Summary

The Purchasing Specialist supports Sensience manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely, cost‑effective procurement of direct materials, MRO, packaging, and services. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and approved suppliers to manage purchase orders, monitor supplier performance, support inventory strategies, and mitigate supply risk. The Purchasing Specialist plays a key role in maintaining continuity of supply while supporting Sensience’s cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Procure direct materials, indirect materials (MRO), packaging, equipment, and services in support of production and business needs.
  • Create, manage, and expedite purchase orders in accordance with planning requirements, inventory targets, and customer demand.
  • Review shortage reports, demand signals, and production schedules to proactively address material needs.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including lead times, delivery reliability, pricing changes, and potential supply risks; elevate issues as needed.
  • Support price negotiations and cost‑containment initiatives with approved suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and compliance files (e.g., insurance certificates, contractor documentation).
  • Participate in supplier evaluation, qualification, and continuous improvement efforts as part of the Supply Chain team.
  • Support and maintain kanban or supplier‑managed inventory programs, ensuring appropriate levels and timely replenishment.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Planning, Quality, and Finance to resolve purchasing, inventory, and delivery issues.
  • Partner with Sales during the quotation process by gathering supplier pricing, evaluating material availability, and providing cost and lead time inputs to support timely and accurate customer proposals.
  • Assist with reviewing material classifications and inventory strategies based on changes in demand or business needs.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts related to purchasing, sourcing, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of purchase order systems and ERP/MRP tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Basic negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Familiarity with supplier qualification, cost‑reduction initiatives, or inventory optimization.
  • Experience working with domestic and international suppliers preferred.
