ESOL Lead Teacher
The ESOL Lead Teacher supports the English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Reports to the Director of ESOL.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inputs, maintains, reviews, and audits data/documents in the SIS (student information system) to ensure compliance for student eligibility and continued services.
- Provides technical assistance to school staff as it relates to OCR, state, and federal programmatic matters. Administers program assessments as required.
- Develops and facilitates supplemental professional learning sessions at the school and district levels focused on topics related to teaching English learners. Conducts demonstration lessons. Facilitates collaborative planning meetings/sessions.
- Collects, disaggregates, and analyzes student assessment data (e.g., ACCESS for ELLs 2.0, content assessments) to determine the instructional needs of English learners K-12 for school improvement and to increase student achievement. Conducts data presentations for schools/district.
- Other duties as assigned related to program needs.
Key job requirements include:
- Master's degree required in a related field.
- 3-5 years of successful teaching.
- Georgia Certification at level T-5/L-5 or higher and ESOL endorsement/certification. Holds valid driver's license.
- Analytical: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required to review and approve major recommendations.
- Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; occasionally requires contact with officials at higher levels. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
- Responsible for multiple functions of instructional supervision with a high-level accountability for effective operation and results.
- Applies, recommends and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of instruction and pedagogy.
- Normal office setting and classrooms Requires frequent travel for off-site training locations and school site visits.
- Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping Light lifting or carrying 25 lbs. or less.
