Data Center Technician , DCC Communities

Join our dynamic AWS team and become a critical guardian of global cloud infrastructure! You’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of the world’s most innovative technology platform, ensuring seamless data center operations that power millions of businesses and services worldwide.

• Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix, network troubleshooting, and routine maintenance to support overall availability of AWS services.
• Serve as primary contact point for internal & external stakeholders, including engineers, vendors, and contractors.
• Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
• Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.

• Lift and move material up to 40 pounds.
• Work in cramped or elevated locations.
• Bend, lift, stretch, and reach as needed.
• Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
• Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
• Work in an industrial environment, with shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.
• Travel to trained locations or newly operational facilities as required.

• Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
• Willingness to work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
• Travel frequency will vary based on business needs.

• Take ownership of technical issues and engage other teams to drive resolution.
• Use strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Solve problems at root level and understand broader context.
• Maintain service level agreements through proactive detection and reporting.
• Act without direction or support.
• Improve effectiveness through process innovation.

• 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience.
• 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking experience.

• Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or relevant professional or military experience.
• Experience managing and training team members.
