The Administrative Services Coordinator for Hampton Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services plays a vital role in supporting the department’s daily success. This position is responsible for performing all business and personnel functions while providing essential support for a variety of operational and administrative services. If you are detail‑oriented, organized, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and community‑focused department.

The purpose of the class is to perform all transactional personnel functions for the Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Services (PRLS) department and support other business‑related services as needed. This class works under general supervision according to set procedures.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or successful completion of a GED.
  • Requires five (5) years of experience in providing administrative support at a senior level, preferably within a municipal government or other service related organization.
  • Some college level coursework in Business or Public Administration, or a closely related field of study is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in Human Resources and modern business principles is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to an offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
  • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
