Support Services Coordinator - CSA
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and budgetary support for the Children's Services Act (CSA) Division of Human Services, including support for the Hampton Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) and the Community, Policy and Management Team (CPMT). Performs some complex tasks and requires analytical skills, frequent decision making, and along with strong interpersonal skills. The position works under general supervision, according to set procedures, but can assert judgment and work independently to complete tasks.
WhatYou'll Do
- Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and financial reporting.
- Process purchase orders, invoices, and departmental expenditures.
- Maintain financial and case management records with accuracy.
- Compile data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and finance staff to ensure timely payments.
- Provide administrative support for meetings, correspondence, and special projects.
- Help develop and improve departmental policies and procedures.
- Safeguard confidential information while supporting CSA operations.
- Requires high school graduation or successful completion of a GED.
- Associate’s degree in Human Services or Business Administration preferred.
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in office management or in the performance of clerical/technical accounting functions or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of experience in a local government or non-profit setting performing administrative work is preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check and Child Protective Services (CPS) check related to this position before an offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires thorough knowledge of office operations; general accounting operations, including monitoring a departmental budget. Must have demonstrated experience compiling data, preparing statistical and fiscal reports, and presentations; must be proficient in computer operations to include general business software, i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and presentation software.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergencies, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
