DescriptionHampton University, a dynamic HBCU known for excellence in education and community engagement, invites qualified candidates to apply for an Administrative Assistant position at the newly established HU Cares Pharmacy and Integrative Wellness Center. This full‑time role offers a unique opportunity to serve a diverse campus and community population by supporting the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centered care for medical and mental health concerns.
The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support for the HU Cares Program and will report directly to the HU Cares Program Manager(s).
Duties- Provide reminder phone calls and assist with clerical aspects of patient triage.
- Receive and disseminate confidential mail and correspondence exercising discretion.
- Draft responses to routine correspondence.
- Prepare daily schedules for the Clinical Staff.
- Manage and maintain all general files.
- Interact professionally with university officers, faculty, staff, and students.
- Order and maintain office supplies.
- Order and maintain laboratory supplies.
- Manage incoming calls to HU Cares.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast‑paced and confidential environment.
- Demonstrate a skilled use of computerized applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager(s).
- This position requires a person who is patient‑centered, accessible, and open to providing administrative support in a medical setting.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and serve as a liaison to community partners.
- Ability to administratively deal with student crises as they arise.
- Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Administrative experience and/or proven administrative skillset.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Administrative support/clerical experience.
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Effective oral and written communication with a wide variety of constituencies.
- Ability to learn and work with medical record systems.
- Proficiency with office equipment—including computers, copiers, scanners, etc., and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Exercise confidentiality and discretion at all times.
- Prioritize, plan, and organize multiple tasks and projects using strong organizational skills.
This is a grant‑funded position, available until June 30th, 2026. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding.
