Administrative Assistant
Hampton University is seeking an administrative assistant who will assist the Department of Education in the performance of various administrative and clerical support tasks.
Examples of duties include maintaining the chair's calendar of meetings, presentations, and deadlines; performing all clerical tasks, including typing, copying, retrieving, sorting, and sending mail; assisting in the preparation of meetings and events including school and committee meetings organized by the Department of Education; taking meeting minutes for the Department of Education; managing front desk operations (including answering the telephone and greeting visitors at the reception area);
setting appointments with professors for students who need advisement or issues resolved; providing information and referrals to faculty; preparing presentation materials including power point presentations and handouts; collecting and disseminating department-related information; interfacing with repair personnel, vendors, delivery personnel, and equipment-service providers; and other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Typical qualifications include proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a member of a team, demonstrated initiative and sense of ownership for projects, and the ability to work at Hampton University in person.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
