Position Overview

Steer Bridge Strategies is seeking a Construction Administrator (CM-CA) to support construction and facility improvement projects at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Hampton, VA. The selected candidate will serve as an owner's representative, assisting with construction administration activities and ensuring projects are executed in accordance with contract requirements, schedules, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review construction documents, plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Monitor contractor performance for compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to document construction progress and identify issues.
  • Coordinate with VA staff, contractors, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and milestones.
  • Assist with construction closeout activities, punch lists, and turnover documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project managers in resolving construction‑related issues and risks.
Work Schedule Requirement

This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week onsite at the Hampton VA Medical Center. Candidates must be available to support night shift operations as needed, with typical working hours between 5:00 PM and 5:00 AM EST.

Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting construction administration, construction management, facilities management, or related projects.
  • Experience reviewing construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA PIV badge and pass a federal background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), federal, healthcare, military, or medical facility construction projects.
  • Construction management certifications such as CCM, PMP, CQM-C, or similar.
  • Familiarity with healthcare facility construction standards and regulations.

$100,000 - $115,000 a year

Compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, certifications, and overall fit for the role.
