ResponsibilitiesThe Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is looking to hire a self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and dependable individual to help manage our fishing pier, provide customer service, and maintain the facility.
Requirements include shift work that may involve nights, weekends, holidays, on‑call emergency standby, and occasional long hours during emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or successful completion of a GED.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in customer service.
- One (1) year of experience in cash handling, food service, and/or maintenance preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires shift work to include nights, weekends, holidays and on‑call emergency standby.
- Extensive contact with the general public and community organizations.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
