Clinical Coordinator
Hampton University School of Nursing and Health Science seeks an applicant for a 9-month, full-time faculty position in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, available in the Fall Semester, August 2026.
Academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's required in nursing or related field (Health Sciences, Physical Therapy, Pharmacist, Pharmacologist, etc.).
- The clinical coordinator must hold an academic degree and be an appointed faculty member or institutional equivalent with the sponsor.
- Nursing candidates must have an unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the state of Virginia or a Compact License.
- Allied Health candidates must have a license for the state of Virginia.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certified (CPR)
- CPR Instructor or willing to become a CPR Certified instructor within a year of hire date.
- Have documented at least two (2) years of clinical teaching experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and educational theories and techniques.
- Nursing candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse in a hospital setting.
- The structure and daily operation of the program.
- The organization, administration, periodic review, and evaluation continued to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical curricula.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained.
- Actively coordinates and conducts the procedures required to achieve and maintain program accreditation.
- Contributes to the formulation of appropriate program budget planning.
- Provides student clinical guidance.
- Participates in student recruitment efforts.
- Develops and implements Service-Learning Projects for professional nursing students.
- Serves as a liaison between the School of Nursing and other academic units within the University.
- Provides instruction in areas of expertise or preparation.
- Participates in University and School of Nursing & School of Health Sciences committees.
- Supervises the maintenance of all records and files related to clinical.
- Serve as a consultant and resource person to faculty, health care institutions, community agencies, and health care personnel within the community.
- Complies with standards and criteria required by the University, State, and professional accrediting agencies.
- Evaluates the Clinical Faculty and Clinical Sites yearly.
- Participates in continuing education offerings to enhance academic preparation and ability.
- Supports research and publication activities of faculty, students, and radiologic technologists in the community.
- Actively participates in the development of grant proposals.
- Maintains membership in and participates in professional organizations.
- Maintains professional competencies within the area of responsibility.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of clinical affiliates may be demonstrated through overseeing, monitoring, and communicating with the Clinical Coordinator.
- Oversee student clinical rotations, the number of cases, and completion of required competencies by all students.
- Serve on University, College, and School committees as needed.
- Negotiate contracts with existing and new clinical education settings.
- Serve as the liaison with the administration and faculty in the School of Nursing and the University.
- Teach CPR-certified classes.
- Make clinical rounds to support students.
- Evaluate clinical faculty.
