The City of Hampton is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise server and database environments that support critical municipal services. From virtual infrastructure and SAN replication to cloud-hosted solutions and backup environments, you will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of systems that serve thousands of residents and employees every day.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study.
- Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in system design, and data center management or closely related experience to include experience managing SAN technology, backup solutions and servers, configuring virtual servers, VMware, SAN environments with replication, active directory, backup environments, cloud and hosted vendor solutions.
- Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certification or other industry standard certification is preferred.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
• May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends. - The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
