Responsibilities

CMM Programmer

Howmet Aerospace Inc. (NYSE: HWM) is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries. The Production Planner is responsible for providing an interface between customers and in-house personnel, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the flow of parts through manufacturing processes to satisfy delivery requirements and maintain customer relationships.

The position provides CMM programming, Structured Light (ATOS Blue Light) measurement programming, Best fit software programming, and NX CAD modeling.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop dimensional inspection programs using Visual Basic and Python based on requirement definitions, customer blueprints, CAD models, and specifications for manufacturing data collection, analysis, and distribution.
  • Support existing programs by troubleshooting, implementing modifications, or adding new information as required.
  • Apply detailed understanding of coordinate metrology, including CMM principles and CMM Manager software, to create requirement definitions and functional designs for enhancements and new applications.
  • Use NX CAD software to extract geometric information from CAD models, generate CMM and Structured Light measurement part programs, manage electronic data, and assist in tool builds, gating builds, and production of gating schemes.
  • Work with engineering to analyze electronic models and collaborate with casting houses and tooling houses; perform documentation to satisfy customer and quality requirements.
  • Instruct end users in the use of applications.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Abilities

Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate’s degree in a technical field OR high school diploma/equivalent with two (2) years comparable technical experience.
  • Experience:

    Five (5) years related experience and/or training.
  • Legal authorization:
    Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Access to export-controlled items:
    Employment offers are conditioned upon the applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
