Research Scientist
Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks a Senior Research Scientist to join a research team at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The successful applicant will provide technical expertise to the Advanced Materials and Processing Branch (AMPB) under the RSES contract, serving as a materials science and engineering expert to support the design and performance estimation of thermal radiators for space applications in lunar environmental conditions.
The selected candidate will effectively work in a technical team environment and support tasks such as materials design, coupon fabrication, processing, and detailed characterization, including thermal and mechanical evaluations, optical and electron microscopy.
Compensation: $135,000 – $165,000, commensurate with education and experience.
Education and Qualifications- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- 15+ years of experience in advanced aerospace materials research.
- Experience with materials synthesis and processing, and comprehensive skills for various materials characterization techniques.
- Proficiency in engineering project execution, with demonstrated skills in technical presentations and written reports.
- Experience mentoring entry‑level engineers or students.
- PC‑literate and familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Agile and adept at mastering new concepts, with the capacity to adjust quickly to changing needs.
- Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status.
