Job Description

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is currently accepting applications to meet an upcoming demand for Aerospace Thermal Engineers to support the Structural and Thermal Systems Branch (STSB) at NASA Langley Research Center. These positions are expected to be onsite in Hampton, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Use Thermal Desktop and other thermal analysis software to model and analyze aerospace thermal systems.
  • Document analysis results, create and present reports, technical memos in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Guide design and manufacturing activities by verifying results with testing and providing design guidance.
  • Present findings to internal NASA groups, designers, project leadership, and customers at project meetings, branch meetings, and design reviews.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with Python programming or a comparable scripting language.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong documentation skills and experience presenting technical information to internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on both ground support equipment (GSE), test fixtures, and flight vehicles or satellites.
Desired Experience
  • Experience in Performing Structural, Thermal and Optical Performance (STOP) analysis.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or MBSE Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO), including optimization and sensitivity studies.
  • Experience with CAD geometry as a framework for models and working knowledge of PTC/CREO software.
  • Capability to use other software to solve thermal problems and to develop programming scripts for system-based analysis.
