Facilities Mechanical Engineer - Direct Hire | Hampton, VA

Emerge is actively recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Facilities Mechanical Engineer job in Hampton, VA, for our client, a growing global leader in aerospace and industrial manufacturing. In this role, the Facilities Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, improvement, and implementation of facility systems, equipment, and manufacturing processes.

You will manage capital and expense projects from concept to completion—ensuring timelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements are consistently met. You'll collaborate with production, maintenance, and admin teams to support continuous improvement and operational goals.

Position Highlights
  • Salary: $95,000 to $120,000 per year. Higher pay for more years of experience is available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the specification, design, and procurement of new or upgraded equipment and facility systems.
  • Develop functional specs and work closely with vendors and contractors.
  • Oversee equipment testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance engineering support.
  • Create project scopes, estimates, and documentation.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure safe work practices.
  • Ensure all activities align with EHS policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Occasional travel as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical project engineering or plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Experience with ACAD and Inventor software is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
  • Familiarity with diverse facility infrastructure systems.
  • Experience in casting, forging, or heat‑treating environments is highly desirable.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
