Job Summary

As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for all dimensional characteristics and tooling pertaining to the investment casting process and our products. This may involve both new development and production castings. In this role, you will work with a Process Engineer who handles metallurgical aspects. The prime responsibility is to engineer the highest yield and lowest overall cost product while meeting or exceeding all customer defined quality requirements.

You will work in a team environment with other engineers and with the manufacturing team, requiring strong communication skills.

Essential Functions and

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow Howmet's Safety Regulations
  • Oversee manufacturing tooling design, construction, and implementation
  • Optimize dimensional yields of castings at minimum manufacturing cost
  • Create manufacturing routing and processing instructions
  • Develop and debug processes for production and developmental castings
  • Prepare First Article Inspections to qualify parts
  • Actively pursue continuous improvement of existing processes
  • Provide technical support to customers and handle technical concerns
  • Comply with attendance policies, including regular attendance and occasional overtime
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university (or a qualifying non‑engineering degree with equivalent experience)
  • Practical experience with dimensional inspection/metrology
  • Knowledge of CAD systems for model interrogation
  • UST work authorization; no visa sponsorship available
  • Access to export‑controlled items as required

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of technical manufacturing experience
  • Investment casting experience
  • Proficiency in Solid Works, NX, Inventor, or similar CAD for tooling/fixturing/3D printing
  • Competence in software for technical analysis, documentation, and communication (Minitab, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Location and Schedule

Hampton, Virginia – On‑site. Full‑time.
