Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking to hire an experienced aerospace thermal engineer.

The successful candidate will primarily support the Structural and Thermal Analysis (STSB) branch at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA by preparing and solving Thermal Desktop models, documenting the analysis, presenting/reporting findings, guiding design and manufacturing, and verifying results using testing. Models may vary from Ground Support Equipment (GSE) or test fixturing to flight vehicles or satellites.

Salary range: $135,000-$195,000 commensurate with education and relevant professional experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  • Proven use of Thermal Desktop with at least 5,000 hours of experience, and documenting analysis, presenting findings, guiding design and manufacturing, and verifying results through testing.
  • Experience leading and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word and PowerPoint) and ability to document reports and technical memos.
  • US citizenship (required for ITAR compliance).
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
  • Experience in performing Structural, Thermal and Optical Performance (STOP) analysis.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or MBSE Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO), including optimization and sensitivity studies scripting for system-based analysis.
  • Python programming or similar experience.
  • Working knowledge of PTC/Creo software.
  • Ability to use other software to solve thermal problems and programming capability.
