Job Description:

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking to hire an experienced aerospace thermal engineer. The successful candidate will primarily support the Structural and Thermal Analysis (STSB) branch at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, by preparing and solving Thermal Desktop models, documenting the analysis, presenting findings, guiding design, guiding manufacturing, and verifying results using testing. Models may vary from Ground Support Equipment (GSE) or test fixturing to flight vehicles or satellites.

The salary range for this position is $135,000–$195,000 commensurate with education and relevant professional experience.

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in Thermal Desktop with a minimum of 5,000 hours of usage.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Experience documenting reports, and technical memos in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and presenting findings to internal groups, designers, project leadership, and customers at project meetings and design reviews.
  • US citizenship.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or PhD.
  • Experience in performing Structural, Thermal and Optical Performance (STOP) analysis.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or MBSE Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) or optimization and/or sensitivity studies scripting models together for system-based analysis.
  • Experience with Python programming or similar.
  • Working knowledge of PTC/CREO software.
  • Ability to use other software to solve thermal problems and programming capability.

The work will need to be documented in presentation formats, reports, and technical memos. The successful candidate will present their work to internal NASA groups, project leadership, and customers at project meetings, branch meetings, and design reviews as requested by project managers.

Most duties and responsibilities will be performed for the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.

U.S. Citizenship is required, as some of this work requires ITAR compliance.
