Sr R&D/Product Development Engineer
As a Sr R&D/Product Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and verifying the next generation of high reliability temperature sensors for the AD&M market. You will contribute directly to the design, validation, deployment, and support of advanced sensors for LEO (low earth orbit), rockets propulsion systems and commercial aircraft applications.
This role is intended for a fully qualified, experienced professional who can work under general direction, exercise independent judgment, and resolve a broad range of technical issues. The Sr R&D/Product Development Engineer is expected to own project-level analysis and validation deliverables, support customer and internal technical discussions, and help improve working methods within the team.

Job Requirements:
- Design, validate, and characterize components and fully functional temperature sensors.
- Support the temperature sensors portfolio, including working on sustaining activities and cost reduction projects.
- Create 3D designs using CREO or Solid Works software.
- Create and update 2D drawings using AutoCAD or ZWCAD software.
- Support hands-on testing, debugging, and root cause analysis for issues found during development, validation, qualification, or customer evaluation.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to specify, procure, and validate components, samples, test fixtures, and supporting hardware.
- Prepare clear documentation, test reports, validation summaries, and design data packages to support product development and release.
- Participate as a core team member on projects and contribute to project-level technology and product decisions.
- Coach or train less experienced engineers and technicians on test methods, data analysis, and simulation workflows as needed.
- Innovate and experiment with new sensing technologies to design the next generations of temperature sensors.
- Collaborate with international teams during NPI to industrialize your design.
What your background should look like:
- Engineering degree (Physical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials or related). Graduate Degrees welcome.
- 5+ years of experience in product development, research and development or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong experience with CAD design and engineering development of products, fixtures and processes. Solid Works, CREO, AutoCAD, etc.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, metal forming, tooling, molding/over-molding, assembly, laser processing and additive manufacturing.
- Experience applying DFM, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering problem-solving methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to move projects from concept through prototype realization and manufacturing implementation.
- Understanding of the Phase/Gate process for New Product Development and Sustaining from design initiation to production release.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business units and global teams.
- Understanding of document and revision control software Windchill PDMLink preferred.
- Experience with revision control processes to include Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.
- Understanding of the Product Change Notification (PCN) process.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training and certification preferred.
- Experience designing temperature sensors or working as thermal Engineer for high or cryogenic temperatures is a plus.
- Experience working with AD&M customers including OEM for LEO satellites, commercial aircraft or propulsion systems is a plus.
Compensation:
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $116,000 – $166,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
