Performs phlebotomy and specimen processing including collecting chain of custody drug screens and reference laboratory specimens;
Properly identify patients using full name and social security number before collection, processing, and/or hospital computer entry of requests;
Label and collect blood bank specimens for STAT and routine testing at bedside or chair side;
Review and interpret orders from multiple physicians and coordinate with the medical technologist to combine orders;
Receive and prepare requests for testing and specimens into the clinical laboratory and evaluate the acceptability of each specimen, documenting discrepancies and resolving problems
