Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for making and implementing the technological decisions regarding Diagnostic Service that directly affect patient care.
  • Teach, guide, and direct the image analysis and quality control functions of the service.
  • He/she will be a highly visible Supervisory Technologist responsible for one-on-one instructional function to achieve excellence in image productivity prior to diagnostic interpretation by staff and resident radiologists and physicians.
  • He/she serves as a radiology management representative and reports directly to management on the technological operations of the service if so, directed by the Chief Technologist and is designated alternate during periods of the Chief Tech's absence.
  • Responsible for the overall supervision of the professional technological staff of the Service that encompasses a diversified field of technologists performing separate and distinct radiology procedures using a variety of acceptable skills and techniques.
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for the technological services within Diagnostics Service.
  • Assures conformity by the technical staff with departmental and medical center policies.
  • Develops strategic short- and long-term goals and objectives for the Service in collaboration with the Chief Technologist and Administrative Officer.
  • Responsible for the formal performance and competency evaluations of personnel in multiple radiology sections. He/she acts as the final stage reviewer for annual performance appraisal of the technical and clerical staff assigned to him/her.
  • The incumbent is tasked the responsibility of preparing a formal plan for the continuing educational needs of the Service. He/she plays a key role in the development of educational programs to meet the standards of various accrediting and regulatory groups.
  • The position is responsible for administering activities as they relate to an active quality control program. He/she establishes internal guidelines and criteria, which promote optimum image quality, reduce over exposure to the patient, reduce waste, and enhance patient care with the result being a technically satisfactory study.
  • The incumbent is responsible for the radiation monitoring in accordance with NRC standards. Acts as the liaison with the Radiation Safety Officer for collection and distribution of all radiation badges. Reporting all irregularities to the Chief, Diagnostics
