Description
SAIC is looking for a Cloud Network Engineer to join our team in Hampton, VA in support of the Air Operations Center Weapons System (AOC WS) Falconer Program’s AppTX team. A good candidate is experienced with the installation, configuration, and operation of AWS networks and network components software applications and Ansible/Terraform automation. A strong candidate is also familiar with implementing automation with Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code, familiar with implementing DoD cybersecurity requirements and controls, familiar with network-focused Amazon Web Services (AWS), and has experience with Windows Server, Linux, and containerized applications.
Builds systems on virtual machine instances through both manual and automated means, in both AWS cloud environments as well as on-premise edge computing environments. Applies required cybersecurity controls. Configures cloud resources as needed for both application functionality and cybersecurity compliance. Supports testing of cloud-hosted virtualized systems.
- Build VM-based networks/systems, install, and configure network applications, and support operations and sustainment of those systems in development, test, and production environments.
- Support the cybersecurity monitoring, including the assessment of any identified vulnerabilities and implementation of remediation as required.
- Develop automation code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Power Shell, to partially or fully automate the deployment, installation, and configuration of networks and/or network-based applications on various operating systems; as well as containerized applications hosted in Kubernetes clusters.
- Configure AWS cloud resources, networks and security groups both manually and via automation, to implement the necessary compute, storage, network, and security configurations.
- Work with AOC WS 10.1 sites to integrate AppTX Lift and Shift systems on AWS with current On-Prem systems, including understanding the AOC WS 10.1 BSS and the ADCP KRADOS on-prem solution and future AWS buildout.
- Have a solid understanding of network tunneling technologies and be able to deploy and configure a tunneling solution.
- Configure AWS observability features including Cloud Watch Logs, Cloud Watch Metrics, and Cloud Watch Alarms for network systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation as required.
- Collaborate with the AppTX team and other stakeholders, including system administrators, developers, managers, and auditors, to implement AppTX requirements in a timely manner.
TYPICAL
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience;
Masters and seven (7) years or more experience. - Two-plus (2+) years of demonstrated experience working in software development and/or IT operations.
- Active Secret clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent DoD Approved Baseline Certification for IAT Level II).
- Experience with various network and computer system operating systems.
- Experience with AOC WS Boundary Security Systems and network system installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Experience with automation tools including Terraform, Ansible, and/or Power Shell.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity controls, scans, and remediation of findings.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Familiarity with development and automation orchestration tools such as Git Lab and Git Lab CI/CD.
- Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and/or Kanban.
- AWS certifications are desirable, but not required.
