Job Summary

The Protocol Specialist (Senior) provides comprehensive protocol, executive engagement, and event coordination support to the ACC A2 Directorate. This position is responsible for planning, synchronizing, and executing high‑visibility engagements involving senior military leaders, government officials, and distinguished visitors. The Senior Protocol Specialist serves as the Directorate’s subject‑matter expert for protocol operations, ensuring all ceremonies, visits, and official functions are conducted in accordance with Department of Defense, Air Force, and MAJCOM‑level standards.

The role directly supports mission‑critical activities and may oversee or guide less experienced personnel in the execution of protocol and event support functions.

Essential Functions
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute protocol support for all ACC A2 Directorate events, ceremonies, and official functions.
  • Serve as the senior advisor on protocol matters involving general officers, senior civilians, U.S. government officials, and foreign dignitaries.
  • Maintain the master Distinguished Visitor (DV) calendar and provide weekly updates to ACC A2 leadership.
  • Lead coordination with ACC and Installation Protocol Offices to align security, logistics, media, and ceremonial requirements.
  • Collaborate with Division leadership to develop conference agendas, schedules of events, and execution timelines.
  • Manage all logistics associated with high‑visibility engagements, ensuring seamless execution in a dynamic environment.
  • Meet, receive, and escort distinguished visitors, ensuring proper honors and courtesies are executed in accordance with rank and status.
  • Plan, direct, and provide guidance for all protocol matters pertaining to Directorate events and official visits.
  • Instruct and mentor personnel on protocol procedures and best practices for planning and executing official ceremonies and functions.
  • Manage, operate, and troubleshoot audiovisual (AV) equipment and secure communication systems to ensure full operational readiness.
  • Oversee the setup, configuration, and functionality of briefing spaces and conference environments.
  • Support the management, scheduling, and training of AV equipment across A2 divisions.
  • Attend coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders to synchronize event and visit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate administrative documentation of events, visits, and training activities within designated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Air Force, MAJCOM, and organizational policies governing protocol operations.
Position Requirements (Req Number PRO-26-00034)
  • Active TS/SCI government security clearance.
  • 10+ years of experience in protocol, executive support, event coordination, or military staff operations.
  • Completion of a formal Military Protocol course or equivalent experience supporting senior leader engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting General Officers, SES‑level civilians, or equivalent senior leadership.
  • Expert knowledge of DoD and Air Force protocol standards, customs, and courtesies.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in high‑visibility, mission‑critical environments.
  • Experience coordinating complex, multi‑stakeholder events and engagements.
  • Proficiency in audiovisual systems, secure communication platforms, and briefing environments.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders and external agencies.
  • Ability to mentor junior personnel and provide oversight of protocol‑related support activities.
Education
  • Master's Degree (MA/MS) Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree: 6 years of additional work experience may be substituted
