Job Overview

Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) seeks an Endpoint Technology Support Technician to assist with day‑to‑day operations of the campus technology infrastructure. The role provides direct technology assistance to users, troubleshoots desktop/laptop systems, and serves as the primary level‑one contact for all IT requests.

Responsibilities
  • Provide desktop, laptop, and peripheral system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Offer remote and on‑site support to offsite and mobile users.
  • Maintain help‑desk ticketing system, generate reports, and coordinate with leadership.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to identify and address end‑user needs.
  • Manage and update customer‑facing websites, social media pages, and training resources.
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of strategic communications and training materials.
  • Support project management tasks and contribute to the successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives across VPCC campus locations.
  • Serve as Campus Security Authority and fulfill mandatory reporting responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; valid driver’s license.
  • Experience supporting hybrid learning/work environments and the associated technology infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 2‑3 years in system administration and help‑desk support, preferably high‑volume.
  • Strong knowledge of audiovisual systems, Microsoft products (Teams Voice), desktop and endpoint technologies.
  • Working knowledge of network, telecommunication skills, wireless configuration, IT governance principles, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and the ability to travel between campus locations.
  • Must possess own reliable transportation.
  • Experience operating a state vehicle (if required).
    Note:
    Supervision of employees not required.
Additional Considerations
  • Knowledge of VCCS and Virginia security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, team‑oriented higher‑education environments across multiple campuses.
