Position: Lowband Software Support Engineer (Onsite)

Sensor Resource Manager Expert – Langley AFB, VA

Role Overview

The Sensor Resource Manager Expert operates and supports multiple airborne SIGINT sensors and networks for the U.S. Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) Signals Intelligence Field Support (DSFS). The position ensures sensor readiness, troubleshooting, and system upgrades, and is classified as Mission Essential with potential duties outside normal working hours.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple airborne sensors’ processes simultaneously and operate interfaces with sensors, sites, networks, and systems.
  • Provide updates to sensor resources management processes and manage ground support for SIGINT sensors and networks.
  • Troubleshoot sensors and recommend updates to CICS, GCP (CETS, MSCS, RIM, SEAM, SDE) software and networks.
  • Provide technical and engineering support for sensors and networks.
  • Respond to incident tickets and monitor network connections between SIGINT sensors and ground equipment.
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics and fault isolation for SIGINT systems, networks, and end‑to‑end sensor paths.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for sustainment support during system upgrades and recommend process and network improvements.
  • Manage data encryption changes and implementation per tech data, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), and operating instructions (OIs).
  • Support post‑upgrade software/hardware efforts and provide on‑the‑job training to AFP personnel.
  • Identify sustainment improvements that reduce logistical footprint.
  • Ensure SIGINT and network system readiness and configure systems relative to sensors and communication links.
  • Execute pre‑mission tasks (system reboots, ground rings, etc.) and complete mission‑template data input.
  • Provide real‑time SIGINT and network assistance to pilots, maintainers, operators, and users.
  • Document issues with end‑to‑end processes/systems and submit incident tickets.
  • Perform software maintenance actions and complete end‑to‑end mission debriefs, ensuring maintenance personnel are aware of issues.
  • Monitor and restore sensor, network, and DCGS system capabilities using government tools (process resets, power cycles).
  • Evaluate anomalies, submit incident tickets, and perform required software maintenance actions.
  • Work nights, weekends, and varying shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 10 years of experience with the DCGS system.
  • 10 years of COMINT experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and a valid, transferable TS/SCI security clearance (current before day one).
  • Certificate of competency:
    Current DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II or IAM Level I (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, CAP).
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DoD 8570.1 IASAE Level I certification (e.g., CASP+, CISSP).
Security Clearance Requirement

Active and transferable TS/SCI clearance is required prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is mandatory as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
