Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal who can independently manage PI cases from intake through trial or settlement. Most of their cases will be assigned post intake and initial development of the file. This role requires familiarity with pre-litigation and litigation phases of personal injury matters, strong independent drafting skills, with excellent grammar skills, and the ability to proactively manage deadlines, discovery, and attorney calendars in a fast-paced litigation environment.
The candidate should have general district and circuit court experience. Federal court would be a plus. The ideal candidate is a seasoned PI paralegal who can take ownership of the files, draft pleadings and discovery with or without templates, and serve as a litigation partner to the attorney.
- Track statute of limitations, manage deadlines, discovery deadlines, and court-ordered dates as provided in Scheduling Orders
- Maintain complete and well-organized electronic and physical case files
- Monitor medical treatment progression and ensure cases are medically mature before resolution
- Understand and manage liens.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, and correspondence with minimal attorney oversight
- Prepare complaints, motions, subpoenas, deposition notices, and settlement-related filings
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit lists, witness lists, (some medical summaries), medical index, and trial binders
- Handle e-filing in state courts. Federal court is a bonus. Manage incoming discovery and organize medical records, bills, and wage loss documentation
- Prepare initial discovery responses and objections
- Manage attorney’s calendar, including court appearances, deadlines, and hearings using Outlook
- Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and expert conferences
- Coordinate with opposing counsel, court staff, court reporters, medical providers, and experts.
Significant experience as a Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal (typically 5+ years
) with demonstrated skills, strong understanding of personal injury litigation timelines, damages, and discovery, experience managing medical records and liens; excellent organizational skills, calendaring, and deadline-management skills.
