The City of Hampton’s Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is seeking a dynamic Recreation Facilities Manager to oversee the operations of our vibrant community centers. This leadership role is responsible for the direct oversight of facility operations, program management, and staff supervision—ensuring our centers remain welcoming, well-managed, and responsive to the needs of our community.

The purpose of this class is to provide oversight and direct operations for the City’s community centers. This position provides administrative and supervisory leadership for facility operations, program development, and staff management within these service areas. This class works under general supervision of the Recreation Administrator, independently developing work methods and sequences. May supervise others.
Minimum Requirements:- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible experience in recreation program administration, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
- Experience overseeing both athletics and community center operations preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
