Position SummaryWe are currently hiring skilled Inside Machine Machinists for a long‑term position in the Newport News area of Hampton Roads, VA. The role requires a hardworking person who possesses the skills and ability to perform the job as outlined below.
Essential FunctionsTwo (2) years minimum experience as an Inside‑Shop Machinist. The essential job functions listed above are not intended to be all‑encompassing; the employee may be asked to perform tasks which are not listed but may be considered essential for employment.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience- Familiar with numerical‑controlled processes, manual data input, tooling offsets, conversation controllers, etc.
- Previous experience with large machine manufacturers: PAMA, GNL Horizontal Boring, Shisha, Mitsubishi, Starrag, Thiever.
- Some machines used have weight caps of 350 tons; the clamp holding materials can weigh up to 60‑70 lbs.
- Familiarity with CNC programming: G‑code, M‑code;
Siemens controls and/or Fanuc. - Knowledge of horizontal mill/boring spindle size (4‑8 inches).
- Operate manual and/or NC machines such as lathes, mills, horizontal and vertical machining centers, EDMs, etc.
- Familiarity with the use of precision measuring instruments: outside/inside micrometers, depth micrometers, verniers, etc.
- Familiar with threading and the various measuring/gauging requirements.
- Drilling/tapping processes.
- Familiar with carbide machining processes.
- Ability to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong math skills.
- Machinist or Tool & Die apprenticeship.
- Required respirator fitness qualification exam; clean shaven face.
Successful candidate must possess the willingness and ability to complete and pass all pre‑employment and employment screening requirements which may include medical, psychological, background and substance‑abuse screening.
Physical RequirementsHeave lifting up to 75 lbs; standing; walking; bending; crouching; kneeling; climbing; crawling; confined‑space work; hot work; extreme temperature exposure; chemical exposure; and radiation exposure.
Citizenship / Work Authorization Requirements- Proof of identification – driver’s license or any other identification card issued by federal, state, or local government that contains a photograph and the person’s name, date of birth, gender, height, eye color, and street address.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (must provide one):
- U.S. birth certificate (birth documents issued by a hospital or notifications of birth registrations; Puerto Rico birth certificates issued before July 1 2010 are not accepted).
- Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or U.S. passport card.
- U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization.
- A record of military processing – Armed forces of the United States (Form DD 1966) that reflects U.S. citizenship.
